Introduction:
Among the languages in the west, English has become the most popular language with its speakers numbering approximately 450,000,000, from Australia in the southwest to Canada in the northwest.
English has replaced Latin and French as the prime language
of international diplomacy, science, technology, medicine, communication,
and consequently is taught as the second language in many countries.
Nowadays, English is not only the technological cultural language
spoken in the west, it has become the world's lingua franca
which is spoken in the small global village. Without this means
of communication, the core of cultural enlightenment and the
key for economic development and prosperity, it will be impossible
to mingle successfully in the worldwide network of today.
Beit Rivka, the Women College of Chabad movement, which sends
its graduates all over the world, strives to provide its students
with the best tools for disseminating Chassidut to the world
at large. Therefore, the English department in Beit Rivka College
attempts to enable its students to acquire the English language,
so they can fulfill their goal in life, which is providing a
Jewish education for the Jewish children in Israel and in the
Diaspora. As a result, they will spread the wellsprings of Chassidut
in every spot on the globe.
